TANJOU OMEDETO GOZAIMASU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you on Saturday mwa! TITLE: right as the rain AUTHOR: flori-dono RATING: g CHARACTERS: kenshin and kaoru DISCLAIMERS: rk is owned by nobuhiro watsuki. right as the rain by maureen mcgovern Standard disclaimers apply. WARNING: MUSH! MUSH! MUSH!!!! Yes it is another short mushy fic from me. NOTES: the song is rather an old one, sixties I think. but I really like it, I wish you can get a copy of it in whatever format. yosh! I am back to my one-fic-a-week quota ^_^ anyway, forgive the mushiness (again) *** It's right as the rain that falls from above So real so right is our love It came like the spring that breaks to the snow I cant say what it might bring I only know I only know *** Kenshin stared at Kaoru's face as she slept. Nature provided them an orchestra as She sent the August rain to play a song. The soft pattering was a quiet music that soothed Kenshin. It reminded him of how lucky he was and how grateful he was for being there alive and so much blessed. "Totemo kirei desu." He whispered as he traced the soft planes and curves of her face. Until then, he couldn't believe that somebody like her could fall in love with somebody like him. He smiled. He couldn't say who did most of the wooing. Couldn't say it was him. He had liked her since the day they met and had realized she was special. And during the months they've been together, he had grown to love her. And who could blame him? Kamiya Kaoru was beautiful, young, intelligent and kind. Well of course, she couldn't cook, but everybody has his or her own weaknesses. That was it, for him she was almost perfect. And he couldn't understand how she had been patient and so understanding. So persistent even. He thought of the time when she went after him to Kyoto, and the day when Enishi came to exact his revenge. Come to think of it, he didn't deserve her. Knowing the pain he caused her. He knew that she had cried for him countless of times. Shed tears for him. For him. But she said that she loved him. Loved him despite everything. Despite the Hitokiri Battousai, despite Tomoe. And for whatever reason the kamis had given him her, he thanked them. Thanked them with his whole heart. *** It's right to believe Whatever gave your eyes this glow Whatever my heart this song cant be wrong It's right as the rain that falls from above And feels the world with the bloom of our love *** Kaoru felt the feather-like caresses across her forehead. She slowly opened her eyes and saw her husband looking at her. She felt tears prick behind her eyes. She couldn't believe the intensity of feeling conveyed in those eyes. "He loves me." She really felt happy, and so lucky. She finally had him, no. won him. She defeated the shadows which deprived him his happiness. She had fought hard and she had fought well. And she won. She had him. And she was so happy, knowing that he loved her as much as she loved him. She caught the hand which rested on her cheek and brought it to her lips, kissing the palm. It was hard and calloused with handling a sword but she knew that that same hand could also be soft, and gentle, and loving. He smiled. She looked at his eyes once again. Yes it was still there, and she knew that it will be there forever. *** It's right to believe whatever your eyes this glow Whatever gave my heart this song can't be wrong Itts right as the rain that fall from above And fills the world with the bloom of our love *** "Ohayou gozaimasu," she said. "Ohayou gozaimasu," he answered. "And how is our wee one?" Kaoru giggled as Kenshin's fingers tickled the roundness of her belly. And she laughed more as his eyes rounded at the sudden little kick he felt beneath his palm. "I guess that answers your question," she said. "Hey," Kenshin said quietly. "You know what?" "What?" Kaoru asked. There was that look in his eyes, and she could see that he too saw the same look as he gazed at her own. "I'm so lucky." Kaoru shook her head. "No,I am lucky." *** As rain must fall and day must dawn This love must go on "Aishiteru wa yo," Kaoru whispered as she lifted her head, giving Kenshin a sweet kiss on the lips. "Aishiteru yo," he said to her, kissing her back. And as they did, the rain reached its final crescendo, giving way to the lighter strings of the sun. *OWARI*
