THE FIFTH by flori-dono DISCLAIMERS: Weiß Kreuz is @1997 Koyasu Takehito and Project Weiß. CHAPTER 1 It was any usual day at the flower shop. Yoji was flirting with the girl customers, Omi was looking into the inventory in the computer, Ken was wrapping a bouquet of roses for a starry-eyed girl and Ran was watering the daisies. Yes, it was just any other day. The bell at the door chimed. Yoji looked up to see a young boy dressed in a large baseball shirt and baggy pants, wearing a cap came in. Though it should be nothing unusual, having a boy come in the flower shop was rare. Mostly, girls from the nearby high schools frequent the shop. Basically, because of the four handsome men who worked in the place. "Two dozens of red roses please," the boy said to Ken who was taking his order. Suddenly, conversation ceased and everyone was quiet. "Two dozens?" Ken asked just to be sure. The boy nodded. Yoji came up near him and clapped his back. "For your girlfriend?" The boy shook his head. "No for my sick Mom," he said. The girls "aawed" upon hearing this, followed by whispers of "he's so sweet" and stuff like that. Omi smiled at that. "Yoji has found his rival when it comes to girls." He looked at the boy closely. There was something really weird about him, he just could not tell yet. "Here, they're all ready." Ken said as he gave the boy his order. "Are you sure you can carry that stuff?" The boy nodded, gave Ken his payment and went off. The clock on the wall chimed. It was already one o'clock. "Oh no, lunch's over!" And the girls started to trickle out slowly as they all went back to their respective classes. "Whew," Yoji said as he sat down. "Boy, those girls will be the death of me." Ken laughed. "Don't tell me, you're not enjoying the attention Yoji." "It's not that..." Yoji waved off the remark. "Actually, I got lost for a minute there. The boy who came in took all my girls' attention from me." Omi looked up from his work and decided to voice out his observations. "There was something weird about the boy," he said. "I mean, I can't figure it out yet but there was something wrong about him." "If you call having sex appeal despite a scrawny body weird then maybe that's it," Yoji commented. "The weird thing about him is that he's a girl," said Ran, who seemed busy watering plants all the time. "What?!" the three stared at him in surprise. "What do you mean he's a girl?" Ken asked. "That, was a girl?" Yoji added, he the master-of-women himself could not believe that his girl-radar did not work. Omi slammed his fist on his palm. "Yes, that was it! Ran's right, she was a girl." "Woah," Yoji said, as he folded his hands beneath his head. "Could you please explain?" "Well," Omi said, recalling the scene. "Her voice was modulated, pretty low for a boy of the age she wanted to appear to be. And her stance was slightly effeminate..." "And when she reached out for the roses," Ran added. "The fabric of her shirt stretched and outlined her bound breasts." They stared at him again. Ran was surprising them today. The Ice-King himself noticed something like THAT? "But, why would she disguise herself like that, what's the point?" Ken said. Omi shrugged. "Maybe, she's gay?" he offered. "Hey," Yoji interrupted them. "I'm hungry already, who cares about her anyway. That is her business. Come on, let's eat!" He sauntered off to the back where the kitchen was located. Ken flipped the sign on their door to "Close" and followed him. Omi and Ran exchanged glances. They both knew that "the boy" mattered. They had better watch their backs from now on. ****** Five hours later, the four men were seated in the basement of the shop. Manx was there as usual, standing as far from Yoji as possible. "Good evening Weiá Kreuz," she greeted. "I hope this assignment is good," Yoji muttered. "To tell you the truth, you have no assignment at the moment." "Then why call us?" Ken asked. "I don't want you to think that we don't trust you anymore but if you remember your last assignment..." "Oh please," Yoji said as he put a hand on his forehead. "Don't remind us how we almost screwed that one up!" This time Omi interjected. "But it wasn't our fault! How could we know that that club was only for women? We can't even have the inside of that place under surveillance!" "Yes, that's exactly the point, and we are not condemning you for that. We just decided that you need another member. A woman this time," Manx explained. "What?" Ken said incredulously. "Not what, who?" Ran asked. They all looked at Manx. She smiled ruefully. "Obviously not me." Manx turned on Omi's computer. "Good evening Weiá Kreuz," the digitized voice greeted the still sulking foursome. "Meet your new partner, Takana Yuukio." The four stared at the screen as it flashed a photo of a young woman of about eighteen with black hair and eyes. "Boy, she looks a lot like the boy earlier in the shop." Omi observed. "Perhaps because she is," Manx said. The four men were practically poleaxed. She continued, "I asked her to disguise herself but to leave enough clues to get all of you excited." "We were excited all right," Ken mumbled. "So when are we going to meet her?" Yoji asked. Manx smiled knowingly. "On Sunday, and she'll be staying with Ran." "What?" Ran who was silent, almost jumped at the information. Manx looked at him squarely. "You are the only one with enough room to house her. And besides, you've got a sister." Ran shook his head. "No, why can't you just get her a new place?" Manx sighed. She knew it would be difficult. "It would be easier for all of you if you live close with each other. Her place is too far for you to contact her. And last we checked, there are no vacant flats near here which meet our standards. Sorry, but you have to put up with this arrangement until we find her a place to stay." Ran frowned but Manx could see that he accepted the fact although not too well. "Well, I can take her in with me," Yoji volunteered with a sly smile on his face. "We don't want a pregnant agent in three months time!" Manx said. "Ouch!" Yoji exliamed. Omi whistled. He wasn't listening to a word being said behind him. He was focusing on the computer screen. "Expert on disguises, stealth, firearms, explosives, hand to hand combat, This girl's a wonder!" Ken hmmped. "We still don't need a girl!" Manx smiled secretly. "We'll see..." On to chapter 2
